Dr Rachel Buchanan (School of Education) is an experienced qualitative researcher who uses critical interdisciplinary social theory to investigate the use of educational technology and how this impacts upon the practice, education and identities of educators and students.

Associate Professor Erica Southgate (School of Education) is an expert in qualitative research and has published widely in the area of equity, education and health. Southgate has developed videos, apps and serious games for literacy improvement.

Sharlene Leroy-Dyer


Dr Sharlene-Leroy-Dyer (Centre for English Language and Foundation Studies) is a descendant of the Gadigal, Guringai, Wiradjuri and Dhurag peoples. She holds a PhD in Business and Management and has extensive experience in Indigenous enabling education. She has an interest in Indigenous entrepreneurship and works closely with the NSW Indigenous Chamber of Commerce and the First Australians Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Dr Jill Scevak (School of Education) is an educational psychologist with an interest in applying learning theory to different groups of students. Scevak has expertise in quantitative research design and analysis.


Dr Shamus Smith (School of Electrical Engineering and Computing) specializes in virtual environments and human-computer interaction. Smith's interdisciplinary research explores how advanced interactive technologies and gamification can be applied to real-world problems.
